Meet Hermela

Hermela is a highly skilled and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, parent consultant, and coach based in Los Angeles. With years of experience, she specializes in evaluating and treating swallowing, speech, language, and cognitive-communication disorders in individuals of all ages, including those with developmental delays and disorders, stroke, Parkinson’s, and stuttering.

Hermela earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders from California State University Northridge and Fullerton, respectively. She holds an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification of clinical competence (CCC-SLP) and California state license. She has extensive experience working in a large medical center, acute and outpatient settings, rehabilitation centers, and her private practice.

In addition to her clinical work, Hermela has served as a member of a Multidisciplinary Autism Team Clinic and Craniofacial/cleft palate team clinic, coordinating services for children with various developmental delays and disorders. She is also an active member of the Ethiopian Parents of Children with Special Needs support group in Los Angeles, advocating for diverse communities.

Hermela is committed to educating and supporting families and communities through nationwide presentations about Speech Therapy and Early Intervention, Augmentative and Alternative Communications, and early language development. She strives to provide the best possible care to all of her clients and remains dedicated to her work as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
